In a thrilling Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, the Golden State Warriors emerged victorious against the Dallas Mavericks, riding a powerful third-quarter surge to a 112-87 victory.
The Warriors, who entered the playoffs as the No. 3 seed, found themselves trailing by as many as 19 points in the first half. However, they rallied back in spectacular fashion, led by Stephen Curry's 31 points, 60% shooting, and 50% three-point shooting. Curry, who has consistently been among the league's top performers, proved to be a driving force behind Golden State's comeback.
The Warriors' defense also played a crucial role in the win, holding the Mavericks to just 43.4% shooting from the field and 33.3% from three-point range. Luka Dončić, the Mavericks' star player, was limited to 20 points on 6-of-19 shooting.
With this victory, the Warriors have taken an early lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 2 will be played on Friday, May 20, in San Francisco.
